Life of a Showgirl: Daniella Darling & Double D's

There have been plenty descriptions of Daniella Darling in the very short time you’ve developed a career in the drag world and art community in NYC. You’ve been described as NYC’s burlesque bombshell, the columbian firecracker of NYC, and NYC’s favorite showgirl. Since the very beginning you’ve proudly owned your trans identity carving your own lane and creating space in drag for trans entertainers to embrace their own unique identity in the “showbiz” industry! In previous interviews you have said more than a drag queen you identify as a showgirl. What is a showgirl?

A lot of your looks and style is influenced by past references of old school drag, burlesque and show girl muses? If you could compile three references that have helped navigate your unique performing style and identity who would those be?

You host, curate and produce the show “Double D’s” at All Night Skate, one of the few venues to consistently showcase trans representation in NNYC entertainment. Why is incorporating trans and gender non-conforming talent in your programming and what calls to action do you have to the NYC drag community would you like to see happen now?

You’re partner in crime and other co-producer for this show, is also your drag sister “didi opulence” what is the story of your friendships and how have they been as a partner in this show?

What has been your one favorite experience or memory so far in your nightlife career?

How has having the iconic Brooklyn legend “Julie J’ been in offering support and guidance in your drag career and what do you love most about your drag family?

You have won “breakthrough artist of the year” you were an actress in the Newest select “The dolls’ for 2025. How was that experience from stage to screen? And is acting a career that you’d also like to move more into?

What is next on the horizon for Daniella Darling? Are there any other career aspirations on the horizon?

Last but not least the drag community is pretty tight knit. Who right now is your favorite drag performer in NYC and if you are attending another drag show out of your schedule what other show would you reccomend our TGNC audience to attend.
